I’ve been making some little birds for unravel, a festival of knitting, which is taking place in Farnham on 17-19 February.
Inspired by the glass box entrance at the front of the Maltings, where the festival is taking place, the organisers came up with the idea of creating an aviary of knitted, crocheted or felted birds. The birds will be sold following the festival, with money raised going to Step by Step, a charity that works with young people facing homelessness or other challenges in their lives.
The first bird was created from a slightly adapted pattern from Lime Green Lady. It’s a very satisfying shape and would make a good stress buster toy! I think he looks a little bit sad though.
The second little bird was a very quick make thanks to Canal Crochet’s easy to follow pattern. Is it just me or does he look a little bit sad too?
Birdy number three was taken from the Big Comic Relief Crafternoon magazine, which is available to buy from Sainsbury’s. This was another lovely easy pattern to follow. I felt she needed some wings though so I added some in a contrasting colour.
The little birds need to fly down to Farnham now. Enjoy the aviary my little feathered friends.
