After starting it just under a year ago, I’ve finally finished my A Spicier Life blanket. The border was the final section to complete, and I think it finishes off the blanket very nicely.
I worked on the blanket between different projects, so it took longer to complete than it should have done, but who works on one project at a time? Anyway, I enjoyed making it so much that I didn’t particularly want to rush and finish it.
The combination of different stitches really kept my interest and they were all easy to master. The most difficult part was a ‘simple’ row of trebles, where I completely lost the ability to concentrate and ended up pulling the row out several times!
The blanket started off as a 2017 CAL, written by Sandra Paul (aka Cherry Heart) for Black Sheep Wools. I used a Stylecraft Jaipur yarn pack from Black Sheep Wools, which I bought at one of the Knitting and Stitching shows.
It’s called A Spicier Life because it takes inspiration from the sights and flavour of India.
The pattern was full of clear instructions and photographs, which made it very easy to follow.
It’s quite a bit smaller than I thought it would be, but at least that means I’ve got lots of yarn left over for future projects! And with the temperature set to fall again later this month, it looks like I’ve finished it just in time.
