Folkestone Artworks

I’m just back from a week in Kent, my first holiday in three years! I stayed in Folkestone, somewhere I hadn’t visited before, and it turned out to be a really vibrant, creative place.

One of my reasons for visiting was to see the artworks on display. Folkestone has the UK’s largest urban outdoor exhibition of contemporary art.

It features work from Antony Gormley, Tracey Emin, Mark Wallinger, Gilbert & George, Yoko Ono, and many others – over 40 different artists in fact, and over 70 works of art. The works are free and accessible all year round. They’re situated all around Folkestone, some more easy to find than others!

  • Antony Gormley, Another Time XVIII
  • Tracey Emin, Baby Things
  • Tracey Emin, Baby Things
  • Gilbert & George, Respect Road
  • Cornelia Parker, The Folkestone Mermaid
  • Richard Woods, Holiday Homes
  • Nathan Coley, Heaven Is A Place Where Nothing Ever Happens
  • Sol Calero, Casa Anacaona
  • Spencer Finch - The Colour of Water

The artworks will be refreshed in 2024, and I can’t wait to visit again.

There are lots more photos on my Facebook page.
